How to Bargain Hunt For Autographs

Everyone loves a good bargain.

The feeling of paying next to nothing for an item you’ve either been searching for years or just saw at a glance never grows old. Why? Because it feels like you’ve won a million bucks, even though you’re probably only paying a dollar.

Nowadays, with store prices soaring through the roof, venues like Goodwill, Salvation Army and local garage sales provide not just bargain hunters, but anyone looking to save a buck some good deals.

The best kind of bargain deals are memorabilia, more specifically, signed books. It’s a hobby of mine I’m not stopping anytime soon. Here’s how you can do it too.

Know what kind of books you’re looking for.

Not every book you find at a second hand store is going to be signed, but if you look for the right ones, you’re sure to come across a gem.

Most of the time, memoirs, autobiographies and biographies are the genres you want to be on the lookout for. Perhaps you’re looking for someone in particular or a certain field. Books written by political officials, actors, actresses, musicians and athletes are much more likely to be signed than fiction or other genres. This is because more than likely when the book was published, the author hosted a book signing or several. So, nine times out of ten, thousands of signed copies of that book are out there somewhere.

You’re in better luck if a sticker on the cover of the book reads “Signed Copy.” If so…
